The Racecar suspension design is one of my last projects during my fourth year in college. The main goal of this project is to assemble the FSAE suspension system into its chassis and analyze its motion. The type of spring that is used for the suspension is the coil spring, and the design of the spring can be seen in the picture below.
There are a few important measurements that need to be taken during the assembly of the spring. Setting the required distance between the two rockers that hold the other end of the suspension is one of the important measurements as it is the only components that connect the suspension to the upper control arm.
For the spring of the suspension to work as intended, I solved the spring component properties as flexible. I set the starting crack angle of both springs at a 75-degree and tested both suspensions to stretch until it reaches a 135-degree angle. The animation of the testing can be seen below.
